quilts for japan
The church has posted about an immediate need for twin and full-sized quilts to relieve suffering in the disaster in Japan. I have scheduled the ward building from 8-4 this Saturday to tie quilts. This is obviously last minute, but also as obviously, an easy thing we can do to give service and help our sweet brothers and sisters. This would be a great opportunity to teach your older children about the power of timely service (even when it might be a little inconvenient).
Saturday, March 19th
8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
1075 W 1100 N (church building)
Orem, UT
Come tie quilts to be donated to Japan. If you have twin or larger sheets, batting, or yarn you can donate, bring those as well.
Cookies provided. :)
Anyone who comes to help for at least an hour, or who donates materials will be entered to win a prize.
Please, consider coming to help, and invite friends and family members (even the bretheren!) who are willing to come or donate materials as well. The more we can get done, the better.
Comment with any questions. Pass the word along to anyone who is willing to help.
Thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

January RS Meeting: Service and Personal Health
Wednesday, January 12th, 2011
7:00pm
We will be continuing work on the file folder service project we started last activity as well as starting a new service project. In addition, Kirstin Spencer's sister is coming to do a little "Introduction to Yoga" class for us, so come prepared to exercise! If you have a yoga mat, bring it. If not, she has some extras you can use. . We will have light snacks. This is a great opportunity to invite your visiting teaching sisters to join us. Hope to see you there!
P.S. I have had a few complaints that people aren't hearing announcements. While we do all we can to announce activities in each auxiliary, we're sorry we missed you. Please know you can find information on activities in the RS newsletter, on the ward calendar, on Facebook, and the RS blog. We are in the process of planning exact dates for the activities for the rest of the year, and will get those to you as soon as we have them so you can mark your calendar. We will continue to email about activities as well, and will continue to phase out flyers for both cost and convenience purposes.

General Conference
Just a reminder that General Conference is this weekend, October 2nd and 3rd. Morning sessions start at 10am and Afternoon sessions at 2pm. You can watch on KSL (Channel 5?) or listen on the radio, or even online.
Also, here's a great link to the church's children's conference site. There are games, coloring pages, and other activities to help keep your kids interested.
I always love General Conference time, it's a nice change of pace and a great time to be really edified for a few days. Please, make an effort to watch all sessions. You will see blessings for your efforts.
